Our Centre of Excellence – ENSEMBLE³ – has officially marked the start of Phase 2 of the project with a kick-off meeting. And what a kick-off has it been!
We had the pleasure of hosting esteemed guest from all over Europe, who gave engaging talks on topics spanning photonics industry, research, education and university-business cooperation. Of course right after our leader at the helm of ENSEMBLE³ – Professor Dorota Anna Pawlak – introduced everyone to the idea of what our Centre of Excellence aspires to be. We were joined by Jean-Eric Paquet (Director General of Research and Innovation at European Commission) through teleconference. At the venue at the Centre of New Technologies, University of Warsaw we hosted Professor Grzegorz Wrochna (Vice minister of Science and Higher Education), Wojciech Murdzek (Secretary of State at Ministry of Development), Mateusz Gaczyński (Deputy Director at Ministry of Science and Higher Education), Gabriele Hermani (Science Counsellor at the Embassy of Federal Republic of Germany in Poland), Mariano Muñoz (Economic and Commercial Counsellor at the Embassy of Kingdom of Spain in Poland), Carlos Lee (Director General of European Photonics Industry Consortium), Wojciech Kamieniecki (Director of National Centre for Research and Development), Maciej Żylicz (President of the Board of Foundation for Polish Science), Jon Giuliani and Rachel Won (Springer Nature) and many more esteemed guest attended the inauguration.
During second day of the kick off, representatives of European Commission had the opportunity to see the facilities of Łukasiewicz – Institute of Electronic Materials Technology and observe consortium partners hard at work over short-term and long-term action plans for all work packages of the project.
These two days packed with inspiring presentations, meetings and conversations, although exhausting, leave us motivated to do all the ground-work necessary to kick-off and successfully run operations at the ENSEMBLE³ Centre of Excellence.
